10D/D60 performance tests

Even though I had run benchmarks with various CF cards that I have, the only thing that really matters is the answer to the question, "how fast can I take pictures with my camera?" Also another important question is, "how fast can I switch CF cards after it gets full?"

So I did the following simple test to see how fast the D60 and 10D were with the various CF cards.
  • keep the shutter pressed for 30 seconds
  • time how many seconds it takes for all the data to be written out to the CF (after the first 30 seconds)
The camera settings were as follows: ISO 400, JPEG large/fine, one shot, Manual mode (1/200, F1.8), Manual focus

The results are in the following table.

camera CF pics time total time/average
Canon EOS 10D Transcend 1GB 33 51 sec 81 sec / 2.45
Canon EOS 10D PQI 24x 1GB 32 50 sec 80 sec / 2.50
Canon EOS 10D Lexar 12x 128MB 32 63 sec 93 sec / 2.91
