    優美なおさかな Elegant Fish (井上喜久子)

    Pony Canyon PCCG-00249
    3000 yen
    released 1994.02.02

This is the first solo album by Inoue Kikuko.

The CD comes in a blue cloth wrapped, sturdy, booklet type case. The CD fits on the left side of the booklet, and the right side has a picture/lyrics booklet built into it. The pictures are in color! (but it is a little artistically fuzzy)

The cover of the case says (in English):

    elegant fish
    KIKUKO INOUE

If you were a sea gull flying over the ocean,
I would be a fish longing for your kiss under the water.

    The songs are as follows.

    1: Anataga Kasa wo Hiraitatoki
    「あなたが傘をひらいたとき」
(lyrics by Inoue Kikuko, music and arrangement by Kawai Kenji)
A very short song, closer to a reading of a poem.

    The whole song is:

Someday, I'll put a letter inside your umbrella. In the gloomy rain, when you open the umbrella, that letter will fall out and tell you, even on the rainy days, I love you.

    2: Yuubi na Osakana
    「優美なおさかな」
(lyrics by Hasegawa Sora, music and arrangement by Kawai Kenji)
A slow song that will make you feel like you are swimming in the water. (^_^;) A song from a fish's point of view.

"If you were a sea gull flying over the ocean, I would be a fish longing for your kiss under the water. I basked in the setting sun, and I sprung up."

    3: Shunbin Musume no Yuuutsu
    「俊敏ムスメの憂欝」
(lyrics by Hasegawa Sora, music and arrangement by Kawai Kenji)
    A fast, lively, cheerful song.

The keen, enthusiastic girl wakes up early and is very active. She goes all over and does a lot of things. But it was just a dream. In fact, the girl is very carefree and laid back.

    4: Mori wo Oyogu
    「森をおよぐ」
(lyrics by Hasegawa Sora, music and arrangement by Kawai Kenji)
    A slow love song.

The girl goes swimming through the forest to see her boy friend.

I'll wait for you alone in the secret forest.
Please hold me tight and kiss me on the forehead.

I forgot the place in the secret forest and I was crying.
But I was guided by the fish.

You were waiting for me in the secret forest.
Please hold me tight and kiss me on the forehead.

    5: Shinpai wo Saseteageru
    「心配させてあげる」
(lyrics by Hasegawa Sora, music and arrangement by Kawai Kenji)
A fast, but soft love song.

The girl drove her father's car to see her boy friend. The boy friend was going to drive, but she said that it was ok. But she was very nervous. The girl wanted the boy to pay attention to her. When it started raining, she asked her boy friend to drive.

    6: O hi ru ne
    「お・ひ・る・ね」
(lyrics by Hasegawa Sora, music and arrangement by Kawai Kenji)
A bouncy song, sung as a boy.

The boy goes over to his girl friend's house. But she is taking a nap. The boy doesn't wake up the girl. Later, the boy asks, "Are you bored with me?" Girl says, "No, I'm very secure." (Kikuko says this in a VERY cute voice.)

    7: Mama ga Kanashimukara
    「ママが悲しむから」
(lyrics by Hasegawa Sora, music and arrangement by Kawai Kenji)
A fast song, about breaking up.

A little mistake (lie) caused trouble. The girl was crying, but if she went home this way her mother would get sad. So she cried by herself. "My tears would dry quicker if I'm by myself. I can't go home with tears on my face."

8: Elegant Fish - Yuubi na Osakana II -
    「elegant fish 〜優美なおさかな II〜」
(lyrics by Inoue Kikuko, lyrics by Hasegawa Sora, music and arrangement by Kawai Kenji)
This isn't actually a song. Kikuko is reading a poem to harp music. But she sings a little at the end (one part of Yuubi na Osakana).

    9: An Umbrella
    「an umbrella」
(lyrics by Hasegawa Sora, music and arrangement by Kawai Kenji)
A very slow song. Great voice by Kikuko.

The girl is uncertain, and thinking that they might break up.

    10: Sotsugyou - Graduation
    「卒業〜graduation」
(lyrics by Hasegawa Sora, music and arrangement by Kawai Kenji)
A slow song, about graduating from love (breaking up).

Couple are at a train station, about to say good bye. "Good bye. Forever, forever.. I love you."

    Kikuko says..

The meaning of the title? That's because I'm a reincarnated fish! There isn't a theme behind it, and I wanted to make it an album that would be liked by fans. But it turned into an album that has a lot of my feelings. Hasegawa Sora who wrote the lyrics and all of the other staff members worked hard for me, more than myself. I'm very thankful to them. I like all of the songs, but I would recommend Ohirune that I sang with a boy's feelings. I've always wanted to do a boy's role, and I've auditioned many times for them, even when I was told that I was doing a girl's role. So I was very happy when I got this song.
