Q (from listener): Please ask the guest, Inoue Kikuko, if her "boke" is real.
Hitomi: Is she "boke"?
[Hitomi had never met Kikuko before.]
Akira: It's.. she has a very unique presense. You'll feel it if
you're with her.
Akira: The guest tonight is Inoue Kikuko. Good evening.
Kikuko: Good evening..
[Kikuko started laughing.]
Akira: If you just keep laughing, we won't be able to proceed.
Kikuko: I wonder what is so funny..
Akira: I wonder..
[in the background, they had the Osakana Penguin song]
Akira: You have a very distinctive presense.. or tempo..
Kikuko: Really? I'm always so quick..
Akira: I think the listeners who know you already know that you were
a manbou in your previous life.
Hitomi: You were a manbou?
Kikuko: No, that's a little wrong. I was a fish.
When I was wondering what kind of fish I was, a manbou came to my mind.
I remember that I was a fish, but I don't remember if I was a manbou.
Hitomi: You remember that you were a fish?
Kikuko: Yes, I remember it.
Hitomi: How wonderful..
Akira: You do seiyuu work, but you also have released some albums.
I was given one, the second album Tadaima. You wrote all of the songs
on it.
Hitomi: Really? How many songs are there?
Kikuko: 12. But it's not something that great. Ever since I was little
I've put some melody to the lyrics that I've written. I didn't think of
it as writing songs. So I just put the melody into a tape recorder.
Hitomi: So you didn't use musical instruments to write these songs?
Kikuko: I've learned piano before, and I tried to write songs along with
the piano. But when I do that, the notes of the piano doesn't keep up
with my feelings. When I try to figure out which notes I was thinking
about it, I lose the melody in my head.
So I put the tape recorder to my mouth and created the songs naturally.
Hitomi: You did this even in the middle of the city?
Kikuko: Yes. But if I do it in the middle of the street, it's a little
suspicious, so I hid in corners and did it.
Hitomi: That's suspicious too.
Kikuko: Yes, that is a little suspicious..
Akira: Weren't you embarrassed?
Or was it more important to save the songs?
Kikuko: It was important to save the songs..
When I was riding the train, I can't sing on the train, so I got off and
went to the edge of the platform and sang.
Akira: So that's how Tadaima was created.
Kikuko: But it's a lot of fun. Why don't you try it.
Akira: Hitomi-chan, you should try it.
Kikuko: If you think it's hard, it's hard. But if you think it's fun,
it will be fun. I think everyone has these songs inside them.
[background music changed to Fukuhen Brothers]
Akira: Right now you are together with Iwao Junko and forming
Osakana Penguin?
Kikuko: We both have albums out, and we wanted to sing something that
is very different. So we wanted to create the Osakana Penguin world,
and sing songs in harmony.
Akira: Right now the song that's playing doesn't have anything to
do with harmony.. What is this?
Kikuko: This is.. there is going to be a CD single released prior to
the album. There is a dubious rap group called the Fukuhen Brothers,
and they are singing a song called
"Anime Zasshi no Henshuu ha Mikka Yattara Yamerarenai".
That's the A-side song! We are the B-side.
Akira: This is a funky song.
Kikuko: Osakana Penguin is nothing like this.
Akira: The Osakana Penguin album goes on sale 7/21, and the single goes
on sale 7/5.
Kikuko: The single will have "Osakana Penguin no Theme osakana mix"
(おさかなペンギンのテーマ),
and the album will have "Osakana Penguin no Theme penguin mix".
Then they played the osakana mix.
It's a very "musical-like" song.
Whatever Best 3
Akira: Since you have your very own pace.. and you like to just
do nothing (bo-tto suru), please tell us your three best locations
for doing nothing.
Kikuko: I never do that.. (^_^)
Akira: This might be a hard question.
Kikuko: Ok, I'll try to think about it.
Akira: A great place to do nothing, number 3.
Kikuko: In the train.
Akira: You can do that on the train?
Kikuko: I live very far away, so I'm in the train a long time.
During the morning rush, it's so packed that I can't do anything.
But if the time is a little off, I can sit and relax.
Akira: I fall asleep in the train.
Kikuko: I do too.
Akira: So doing nothing is sleeping?
Kikuko: It's very close.
Akira: A great place to do nothing, number 2.
Kikuko: A park.
Akira: Any specific park?
Kikuko: No, any park is fine. When I'm walking along and I have time
and I see a park, something pulls me in to the park.
Also the roof of a department store is good too.
Akira: Do you like places that have things so you can play?
Kikuko: Yes.. I like it when there are old people and children.
Akira: Then how about a hospital? (^_^)
Kikuko: That's a little different.
When I go to a park, I can get a little happiness.
Akira: So instead of the park, you like to watch the people in the park?
Kikuko: Maybe that's it..
Akira: A great place to do nothing, number 1.
Kikuko: On top of the bed, sitting in the "sports sitting" position.
Akira: Do you hold your knees together?
Kikuko: Yes. Of course in my own room.
Akira: Is there anything to that position?
Kikuko: No, it just feels good.
Hitomi: You like to be cramped?
Kikuko: Yes, I wonder why people like that..
Akira: Embryo..
Kikuko: When I sleep I always get into the embryo pose, and my
mother always scolded me.
Kikuko: The other day, I had a dream. I was a shrimp.
The body was a shrimp, but the face was my face.
When I woke up, I was in the embryo pose.
Hitomi: They say that people who cramp up when they sleep have lots
of worries.
Kikuko: Is that so.
Hitomi: I usually spread out when I sleep.
Akira: Oh, so you don't have any worries.
Kikuko: You're lucky. I cramp up a lot.
Akira: But in your case, it's not because of the worries, but because
you are a shrimp.
Kikuko: Maybe I was a shrimp instead of a fish..
Then they played "Okashi na Paradise" (お菓子なパラダイス)
by Osakana Penguin.
This song is the first song on the new album.
This is a musical type song too, but it is a great song!
Junko does a lot of the background vocals. VERY cute and nice!
"osakana ga utaeba.. penguin ga odoru.."
(when the osakana sings.. the penguin will dance..)
Final message
Kikuko: I will be in the video Bishoujo Yuugekitai Battle Skipper.
It's a very fun anime. I saw the finished video the other day.
The pictures are cute, the story is fun..
Akira: When will it go on sale?
Kikuko: The video and LD will go on sale 8/23.
[The ending song of Battle Skipper was playing in the background.]
Kikuko: There will also be a best scenes CD of this coming out.
I did the narration for it.
Kikuko: I have a radio show called Twilight Syndrome.
It's the first time I'm doing a radio show.
Akira: It's a scary program. I was a guest on it before.
Kikuko: One more.. We Osakana Penguin will go on a concert tour
of five cities this summer. Please look forward to it.
Akira: Next week will be the final week where we invite guests.
