An Evening with Tomo Sakurai
This event was an invitation-only event produced by the Tomo Sakurai
Museum, and it was covered by WGEM local television.
There were about 125 attendees. There was a large selection of hors d'oeuvres, an extensive slideshow of her recent social media images, and background music from 12 Melodies and similar albums. The master of ceremonies was Gary L. Blickhan, Curator of the Tomo Sakurai Museum of Quincy, Illinois. At about 6:30 PM, Sakurai-san appeared for a media interview with WGEM in English. Shortly after, Sakurai-san was introduced to applause. There was a handshake and autograph line. Japanese-English language interpretation was provided by Logan Freiburg of the Tomo Sakurai Museum. The autograph bonus was a 8 inch by 11 inch photo card of Sakurai-san wearing an elegant black dress. At 7:15 PM, Sakurai-san took a break for a costume change. Before 7:30 PM, Sakurai-san was reintroduced, wearing the elegant black dress from the photo card. She provided a greeting in English. Sakurai-san also discussed in Japanese her experiences in visiting Quincy, such as shopping, dining, activities, etc. After Sakurai-san's speech, she performed the song "Kuchibeni" from 12 Melodies, in front of a picturesque fireplace decorated by cherry blossoms in vases. After the song performance, Sakurai-san resumed the handshake and autograph line. Official goods sales included FEATHERED's 2024 calendar TYPE-A, TYPE-B and TYPE-C, as well as the FEATHERED clear file set. Official goods sales were handled by Tiffany Roach of the Tomo Sakurai Museum.
